What is NNATPIP
NNATPIP is providing support for those who promote the outcomes of children and young people (0 -19) with a physical impairment and/or severe medical need and support their families and educational settings.
NNATPIP is a professional organisation which represents specialist teachers who work to improve outcomes for pupils with physical impairments. Many of them work in specialist service departments of local authorities but the network also includes a wide range of other colleagues.
Formed in 1999, NNATPIP is co-ordinated at a regional level and several regions have active working groups meeting in their local area. NNATPIP also has a national committee that is comprised of representatives from the different regions and elects national officers. See the Contact Us page for more information. NNATPIP is purely voluntary, with free membership and no salaried staff.
Aims: NNATPIP believes that:
- Every child with a physical impairment has an entitlement to personal, emotional, physical and intellectual development, and must be given the opportunity to achieve his/her potential in learning.
- Educational systems should be personally designed to take into account the needs of children with a physical impairment.
- Children with a physical impairment should have access to high quality and appropriate education.
Objectives NNATPIP exists to:
Build a network of teachers which reflects the views of its members
Provide the means and opportunities for members to air concerns, disseminate and share expertise and knowledge
Contribute to the formulation and development of policy in this area at local, national and international level.
